Guerlain Meteorites Baby Glow Fluid Foundation | Review

Pardon me for my inactivity here on my blog as I was crazy busy, preparing for both my wedding and new home. Although I try to scale down the size of the wedding to a simple one, I still find the many little bits and bobs that needs to be done irritating. Can't wait for this whole thing to end. Seriously. Once is enough :P

So, onto the more interesting the part of the post, my thoughts on Guerlain Meteorites Baby Glow Fluid Foundation. 

I have heard mixed reviews about this product. Some liked it light and easy to apply while others hate its short longevity and not-really-there-coverage. Thus, this was often used as a primer instead of a foundation. However, I like mine on the lighter coverage hence using this BG as my foundation was good enough. Thus, this review is my impression of BG as a foundation.

First thing off, I do like the packaging. Its compact and looks durable with the pastel cover and straight forward wording on top. 

I chose the colour 2 Clair/Light (am a MAC NW20) which suits perfectly on my skin.

Another thing which is a plus point is it comes in a pump and not your normal squeezey tube thingy. This alleviates the impression that Guerlain did put some thoughts into their packaging.

This pea size amount comes from half a pump. The product itself packs a ton of colour and is emollient enough to blend. 

After blending it out with my fingers, you can still definitely see some pore peeking thru thus its a light to medium coverage. I wouldn't say its buildable as the formulation doesn't seem to allow it to do so. True to its name, the finish is not entirely matte as there is some luminosity hanging around without the shimmer (pardon me as the camera is unable to pick it up). I like how light weight it felt on the skin with no signs of caking. 

Now here comes the gripe, the longevity is indeed crap. Oxidisation (the sign of darkening) can be seen after a meer 5 hours mark. Was sorely disappointed as I already am liking the whole outlook of this product being light weight and giving me that healthy glow. Oh well, nothing is perfect I guess (ahem, not including Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua which is my ultimate holy grail).

Apart from the allowable duration of wear, I really liked this product. Maybe one day, I might use it as a primer instead to see how it holds up with other foundation. I wouldn't say its a must-have product, but its nice to have it in your stash as a last minute slap-it-on-and-go product without a fuss, plus it smells good too ^_^

YSL Fusion Ink Foundation Review

Before I start my rambles, I'm going to just put it out there that I'm the kind of girl that prefers her foundation to be light coverage with some luminosity. 

Thus, this foundation doesn't really resonate too well with me. Although its marketed to be leave a matte but yet subtle dewy finish, all I'm getting is powdery flat veil on my face!?

But I must say, the packaging is absolutely gorgeous and classy. Loving the transparent rectangular front framed with black, it totally shouts "Oh, I'm so posh!!".

But the one thing that kinda annoys me is the applicator. Its just so queer looking that it doesn't pick up much product (the liquidy formulation isn't helping either) and it doesn't stop bacteria from transferring from my hand to the product. 

I get that its suppose to be light weight and all thus the watery texture but seriously, I'm having some trouble to make it stay put on my hand without it dripping off. Oh, I'm in B10 by the way (for easier reference, my foundation shade is in MAC NW20, Dior 020, Giorgio Armani No.3, Laura Mercier Porcelain and Chanel 20 Beige). 

As you can see, there is very very little to none radiance this foundation gives. I wouldn't say its completely flat matte, but I just like my skin to have a bit of glow. I like the thin but buildable coverage and also the faint flowery scent. I also love how natural it looks on the skin (possibly, just like skin you may). The only downside for me is that it doesn't last as long as my other foundations which fading can be seen just after 6 hours. 

All in all, I reckon that ladies who love their foundations to have matte finishes with a light to medium coverage will absolutely adore this product. As for me, I think I'll stick to my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and Diorskin Star Foundation.

The 4 Foundations

I'm currently rotating between these 4 foundations by determining whether I needed a light or medium coverage.

The light coverage bases are:
1. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser
Technically, its not a foundation however I love the amount of coverage it offers. My skin has never looked more radiant and healthy. I like how easy it is to blend with my fingers and how light weight it felt on my skin. Literally like wearing nothing. Absolutely adore this product.

2. Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
This is a classic and almost everyone seemed to like (except those with sensitive skin that they claim it breaks them out). Light but buildable coverage, this foundation makes your skin looks flawless and glowy. I like buffing this with my flat top brush which gives it a natural finish. This foundation lasts 8 hours on me before oxidising.


The medium to heavy coverage bases are:
1. Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
This has a cult going in UK and I somehow must try it for myself. I do like this foundation however, something about texture makes it hard to blend (with fingers or brush). I seldom see reviews about this foundation being difficult in application but I'm definitely not liking the time it takes me achieve a smooth face. The reason that I am still using this is because of its moisturising properties if I'm suppose to be in an air-conditioned area the whole day.

2. Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation
This is also another foundation that had me scratching my head during application time. I just can't seem to get this work. **frustrated** Another point is that when I sweat, white water droplets form on my forehead and its quite embarrassing when people are looking at them. The only reason its in my routine is because I wanted to finish the bottle (throwing it away can be so wasteful).

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser Vs Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation

I've always been loving these 2 face products, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation as they give me good enough coverage and don't weigh my skin down. 

But a comparison will always be made when 2 champion products emerge at the same time no matter how much love they received. This time round, I placed them side by side and tried my very best to capture the finished surface for you to judge.

Laura Mercier tinted Moisturiser in Porcelain

I love the squeeze tube. It makes application easier as you do not need to pour products onto the back of your hand thus no wastage incurred. I always like how thin the packaging is for me to slip into my handbag. But the advantage of its packaging over the Chanel's is that it doesn't require any shaking before application. More on that in a minute.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in 20 Beige

I love how small and compact the Chanel's one is. However, I dislike 2 things about the packaging. One, for the amount of money that I'm paying, I don't think a plastic-ky bottle justifies the price. Two, I have shake the foundation like crazy before application and this sometimes results in weird liquid being dispense if I were to forgot the shaking process. Troublesome. 

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser

You can see that Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturiser looks like skin. Sheer to medium coverage, it is buildable but I wouldn't recommend caking it on as it is expected of the moisturiser to give sheer coverage and acts as a base rather than like a foundation. Thus, to cover any imperfections, a concealer is recommended.

Being a sheer coverage product, it does not settle into fine lines and cake up on the skin which is absolutely important for me as I don't need any more emphasizing on my crow's feet and lines on my forehead now, do I? 

Another thing that I love about this product is that it doesn't turn white when mixed with my sweat (trust me on this one as I am the most sweatiest person I'd ever known) which some of the foundation does (I'm totally looking at you guys, Borjois Healthy Mix Foundation, Lancome BB Cream and Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation). Bonus point added here. 

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation

This foundation, is definitely a miracle in a bottle as it is extremely hard to find a foundation which I like and doesn't feel heavy on the skin. Its practically like you are wearing nothing but still get the coverage of a foundation. Sitting on the sheer to medium coverage too, this foundation is definitely buildable and looks natural on the skin. 

The only thing to take note of is that the foundation gives a more glowy finish than the Laura Mercier's. So, if you have a tendency to produce oil during the middle of the day, I suggest to sweep some powder over your T-zone. Lucky enough for me, I am good with my combination semi-oily skin. 

Also do note that this foundation does have a slight sweet scent to it. However, it will fade after slapping it onto your face.

Here's the comparison side by side. As you may notice that the Chanel has a more glowy radiant effect and the coverage is more than the Laura Mercier.

Beauty: Typical Products in My Makeup Routine

Hey guys, so I've been much bumped up with work and staying occupied with health issues.. So, I've decided to do a post that keeps me happy, which is products that I love which I'll use everyday when I'm getting ready for work. 

Sleek Eyeshadow Palette, Chanel Foundation, YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick, Dior Lip Balm, Biore Sunblock, Benefit Eyebrow Gel and DKNY perfume (this is not makeup I know, but still, its my absolutely favourite scent). 

As you can see, I don't do eyeliner and mascara everyday as they are time consuming (I'm not a pro in this field thanks to my hooded eyelids) and tend to smudge (no matter how waterproof they are) by the end of the day. I'll do concealer too if my dark eye circles decided to pop out and say hi.
