Jo Malone Workshop | StylexStyle Event

OMG, its almost like a dream when I got the chance to meet Singapore MediaCorp's artist, Sharon Au, at the Jo Malone Workshop organized by StylexStyle at the Seviin Tangs Orchard. I got the invitation through the purchase of Little Black Beauty Box (a Singapore based monthly beauty box) since some of you had asked.

As you can guessed, I was extremely excited.

I have always been a fan of Jo Malone's perfumes, English Pear & Freesia especially hence it was such a pleasure to be able to attend this event. Look at the row of perfumes on the table o_O. I literally died of happiness...

What made me went to heaven was being able to take a picture with gorgeous Sharon herself ^_^. I am definitely one happy girl. She has been my idol for the longest time I can remember and my family totally loved her too. **Still living in dream land**

We were divided into 4 teams and these 2 lovely ladies were my team mates :) **I still can't stop smiling now writing this blog post, am I crazy?**

As excited as I can be, I volunteered myself to help create a bespoke scent by mixing 2 or more scents by the nice Jo Malone lady. First she asked me a couple of questions and then gradually choose 3 scents (Wild Bluebell, English Pear & Freesia ~ Haha such a coincidence, and Peony & Blush Suede ~ coincidently which I plan to buy) to be spritz onto 3 parts of my body: whole body, hair and skirt respectively. I love this combo a lot.

The reason we were divided into teams is to play a little game of creating bespoke scents for the woman that was randomly drawn. We got Hilary Clinton O_O. Initially we thought we were done for as how on earth are we suppose to guess what sort of perfume Hilary used. But gradually after much discussion, we totally nailed the scent with Wood Sage & Sea Salt (new and on a woody tone) as the base, Lime Basil & Mandarin (Citrusy) and Wild Bluebell (Light Floral to bring out her femininity)

And I do mean nailed it as we won the game ^_^ YAY!!! We were complimented on the used of Hilary's quote which hit some soft spot of the judges. Thanks for voting for us :) And so we got another bag as a "Trophy".

I thoroughly did enjoyed myself and am looking forward to the next workshop (its a pity I missed the last as I wasn't in Singapore). Toodaloos...

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser Vs Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation

I've always been loving these 2 face products, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation as they give me good enough coverage and don't weigh my skin down.

But a comparison will always be made when 2 champion products emerge at the same time no matter how much love they received. This time round, I placed them side by side and tried my very best to capture the finished surface for you to judge.

I love the squeeze tube. It makes application easier as you do not need to pour products onto the back of your hand thus no wastage incurred. I always like how thin the packaging is for me to slip into my handbag. But the advantage of its packaging over the Chanel's is that it doesn't require any shaking before application. More on that in a minute.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser Vs Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in 20 Beige

I love how small and compact the Chanel's one is. However, I dislike 2 things about the packaging. One, for the amount of money that I'm paying, I don't think a plastic-ky bottle justifies the price. Two, I have shake the foundation like crazy before application and this sometimes results in weird liquid being dispense if I were to forgot the shaking process. Troublesome.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser

You can see that Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturiser looks like skin. Sheer to medium coverage, it is buildable but I wouldn't recommend caking it on as it is expected of the moisturiser to give sheer coverage and acts as a base rather than like a foundation. Thus, to cover any imperfections, a concealer is recommended.

Being a sheer coverage product, it does not settle into fine lines and cake up on the skin which is absolutely important for me as I don't need any more emphasizing on my crow's feet and lines on my forehead now, do I?

Another thing that I love about this product is that it doesn't turn white when mixed with my sweat (trust me on this one as I am the most sweatiest person I'd ever known) which some of the foundation does (I'm totally looking at you guys, Borjois Healthy Mix Foundation, Lancome BB Cream and Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation). Bonus point added here.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation

This foundation, is definitely a miracle in a bottle as it is extremely hard to find a foundation which I like and doesn't feel heavy on the skin. Its practically like you are wearing nothing but still get the coverage of a foundation. Sitting on the sheer to medium coverage too, this foundation is definitely buildable and looks natural on the skin.

The only thing to take note of is that the foundation gives a more glowy finish than the Laura Mercier's. So, if you have a tendency to produce oil during the middle of the day, I suggest to sweep some powder over your T-zone. Lucky enough for me, I am good with my combination semi-oily skin.

Also do note that this foundation does have a slight sweet scent to it. However, it will fade after slapping it onto your face.

Right: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation. Left: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser

Here's the comparison side by side. As you may notice that the Chanel has a more glowy radiant effect and the coverage is more than the Laura Mercier.

For your convenience, below is the summary of my preference for the 2 products:
1. Coverage
Chanel - Win
2. Radiance
Chanel - Win
3.Scent
Chanel - Win
4. Packaging
Laura Mercier - Win
5. Price
Laura Mercier - Win

However, there are 5 similarities between the 2 as below:
1. Both contain SPF
2. Both are light to tote around
3. Both are light weight and does not cake up the skin
4. Both offers moisturising effect
5. Both are cult products which are greatly loved by makeup gurus

Still confused? Here's another summary:
Buy Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua if you are looking for a more glowy and radiant finish and have the spare cash.
Buy Laura Mercier if you are looking for both primer and foundation in a bottle and looking for a matte-er finish.

Beauty: Tanya Burr Lipglosses Review

I love Tanya Burr. As a Youtube Sensation, Makeup Guru and a person. She is like the most lovely and genuine person that you can get in this virtual world. So, as you guess, I went berserk when I found out that she launched her Lipglosses and Nail Polishes range. What got me even more excited is that they were sold on Feelunique which offers free delivery worldwide.

However, with some bullshit policy of nail polishes and perfumes being prohibited on the airplane, I only got to try her Lipglosses and boy was I hooked.

From Top to Bottom: Afternoon Tea (Baby Pink), Chic (Nude almost Warm Coral) and Let's Travel the World (Bright Red)

The Lipglosses are so far phenomenal. I tend to stay away from sparkling ones, but these 3 provide enough sheen for the lips making it glossy and plump. They aren't too tacky (hate getting hair stuck to my lips, total disaster) and gives off nice colour payoff even though being glosses. Do note that there is a faint scent of sweetness during application but no discern taste though. The colour stayed a good 3 hours on me.

I definitely recommend you to try out the lipglosses. Inexpensive but yet good quality, its a total steal.

Beauty: Typical Products in My Makeup Routine

Hey guys, so I've been much bumped up with work and staying occupied with health issues.. So, I've decided to do a post that keeps me happy, which is products that I love which I'll use everyday when I'm getting ready for work.

Sleek Eyeshadow Palette, Chanel Foundation, YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick, Dior Lip Balm, Biore Sunblock, Benefit Eyebrow Gel and DKNY perfume (this is not makeup I know, but still, its my absolutely favourite scent).

As you can see, I don't do eyeliner and mascara everyday as they are time consuming (I'm not a pro in this field thanks to my hooded eyelids) and tend to smudge (no matter how waterproof they are) by the end of the day. I'll do concealer too if my dark eye circles decided to pop out and say hi.

So, what's your routine? What's your everyday must "do" in the morning before you leave the house?

Beauty: Little Black Beauty Box Sept Edition StylexStyle

After a disappointing episode with the Aug Edition, September's Little Black Beauty Box is back on track again with tons of goodies. The box was literally filled to the brim...

September Edition, Stylexstyle
Ooppss, excuse the blurry picture...

September Edition, Stylexstyle
Yeah, literally filled. And the most exciting item that meets my eyes is the one on the right side facing upwards, Glam Glow. I mean, I literally squeal when I saw it as this product is f**king expensive, like S$90 for a tub o_O. I was shaking with excitement by then, slowly taking out the products and inspecting them one by one.

September Edition, Stylexstyle
So, this month's product was phenomenal. Benefit's latest Gel Liner was also included in a sample size form and boy must I mention how cute the packaging was (imagine a miniature gel liner pen, awesome). OK, I have to admit that its the Glam Glow that got to me thus the declaration of this box's a winner.

September Edition, Stylexstyle
A closer look, we have the Philosophy Miracle Worker Anti-Aging Lactic Acid Cleanser & Mask (I love sample size cleanser as we seldom get them often these days), Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution (which I highly doubt that its gonna give results with such a small sample size) and Kiehl's Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Mask

September Edition, Stylexstyle
Next up is Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturiser SPF20 UVB/UVA (I already have this in my stash but am excited that I get to bring this sample size instead of lugging around the 50ml tube), Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate (I guess this suppose to act as a serum?), Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment (Woohoo!!) and Benefit They're Real Push-up Liner (mmm... I wonder why no capital letters?).

September Edition, Stylexstyle
Now on to package samples (dislike these kinda samples, I mean I can't use all the products in one go and ending up finding an empty container to keep the rest), Belif Peat Miracle Revital Eye Cream, Ioma Gentle Exfoliating Emulsions, SKII Cellumination Aura Essence (why only 1 :'( should have included 2 for better results) and Lancome Ultimate XL UV Protection Shield-Correct-Unify BB Complete SPF 50 PA++++ (phew, that's a mouthful and why are there 4 plus signs instead of 3?).

September Edition, Stylexstyle
And last but not least, Belif Peat Miracle Revital Serum Concentrate. Looks kinda weird in its greenish packaging.

Well, I am extremely satisfied with this month's (I did not subscribe to next month's as it is a Clarins theme and I'm not really a huge fan of the brand). Click here to buy if you are interested ^_^

Beauty: Lip Balms ~ The Ultimate Crack Lip Saver

Are you tired of looking like a survivor who hasn't been drinking water wondering the Sahara desert? Do you wish that people could just stop looking at your dried-out crack lips with a piece of skin sticking out?

Well baby, its time to whack out your trusty old lip hero, the LIP BALMs.

Not only they help in putting back moisture and healing your dry lips, but they also introduce a nice kiss-me sheen which makes your lips oh-so-sexy (some even has this color-adapt technology that put some colours to your lips).

Let me introduce you to my 2 favourite lip machos (my another all time favourite is Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Lip Balm), Dior's Lipglow Color Reviver Balm and Kiehl's Lipbalm #1 in Mango

I really can't say enough good things about these 2 wonderful products. Besides moisturising the lips, the Dior gives off a subtle pink colour (its advertised that the amount of colour payoff follows the temperature of your lips) with a nice sheen which makes you look fresh and awake. While the Kiehl's does not contain any colour, the mango scent totally makes up for it (but if you are not a scent fan, then you should probably stay away.

Honestly, my lips has never been better since these 2 appear. Although Kiehl's is considerably cheaper (S$17), do give Dior's (S$44 I think) a go as its been my bag staple ever since it landed on my hand.
