My Beauty Diary, Sake Yeast Mask

Before I start reviewing this mask, I'm going to apologize for the crappy photography that comes with this post. Blame the camera I would.

So, I'd bought a box with a variety the mask of My Beauty Diary in Taiwan (uber cheap there, approximately S$12, but you can still get them here in Malaysia and Singapore) and am enthusiastic in trying all of them out (except for the snail mask... eeewwww... even the name sound gross). The 1st one to try is this sake yeast mask.

When it comes to My Beauty Diary masks, the 1st thing that comes to my mind is that they are super wet. I don't mean that they leave your skin all moist and so, but its just that when you slap it on your face, you can feel that tons of product had been injected into the mask.

The description stated that this mask is great for exfoliating and at the same time has some sort of brightening effect as well as moisturises your skin (alright, my shitty Chinese translation needs more practice). The smell of the mask ain't that bad, really. I kinda forgot how it smells like but I know I didn't felt repulsive towards it.

Actually, I didn't feel much difference after applying the mask. I mean, my face felt quite sticky after the application (well, it happens with every My Beauty Diary masks) but to mention if there is any significant changes to the skin, the answer is no. Brightnening effect? No, not really. But I definitely do enjoy the leftover products on my mask and on the sheet of paper that comes with it. Excellent for applying it all over my body. And the mask is kind of on the larger side, and I'm saying this on the perspective of having a large face.

On a good note, this mask does feel cooling on the skin, thus maybe one with sun burn or similar may try this (well, make sure you test it out on the hand and check whether you have any allergic reaction to this mask 1st before you wanna ruin your whole face)

OMG!!!!

Can't believe that its that time of the year again. Not Christmas silly... Its Chinese New Year aka CNY. Which means loads of noisy neighbours blasting their CNY songs on their stereos, fire cracker/fireworks liven up the quiet atmosphere, wearing new garments, no swearing/cursing on the 1st 2 days, money raking session (Ang pows will be given to us that aren't married ^_^), gambling session, tons of eating, visiting from houses to houses, Lou Sang (umm... how should I explain this, its like a variety of veg on one plate where people toss with raw fish and utter words of prosperity?)...

And, this blog will be vacant for 3 days because I'll be on a field trip with my family. Adios!!

Things That I Learned This Month

My parents are getting old. I think that its time for me to fufill my duty as a filial daughter and give them more money to do whatever they want to do. And at the same time go back home more often to spend quality time with them.

Sometimes, we hold the key to our own emotions. Being happy is not by chance, but by choice. I choose to be happy, therefore, I'll only do things that makes me happy and think happy thoughts as much as possible.

Spending too much money on materialistic stuff is not getting me any closer to Utopia. In fact, I felt shitty after spending so much money on "Wants" and not "Needs" (yes, I'm talking to all of you Ipod touch, Eeepad, Mifi, Camera, Burberry glasses, Biotherm skincare)

Can't believe that a family member of mine bought a house. Yes, a freaking house already. Its super high time that I start saving up for my landed property. I don't wanna be homeless :(

Colleagues at work totally understand how stressful you are when you have the same superior.

Working out by dancing is not enough to reduce weight. I think it has to be supported with less eating too.

I totally did not succeed in accomplishing my New Year's resolution in the weight reduction section. My target for this month has not been achieved. I think I need to work extra hard to eliminate these extra burden.

I pity those evauatees from Pripyat (due to Chernobyl disaster). But at the same, I'm tingling to actually book a tour and explore the ghost city. Weird, am I?

Reading is a Passion To Be Nurtured

If you do have a passion like me, I sincerely applaud your hobby. I do think that reading does takes things off your mind and at the same time up your level of knowledge. And the best way to get tons of books?? Is to join the library. You get million of books there, for free and there are so many choices to choose from.

A word of caution, do not borrow too many books at once a span of 3 weeks. You might be unable to finish all the books and tend to rush into finishing them all and lose the enjoyment of relax reading (like me :( sigh)

Internet Everywhere

So, my Eeepad is kinda useless when it comes to connecting to the internet cuz there's no 3G technology incorporated in it, therefore an alternative solutions is a must in order to enable me accessing my Facebook all the time wtf!!!

And I'm definitely glad that the technology that we are lucky to have now are so advanced that you can access internet through your pocket (not some old big ass router modem), which is.... my very own Mifi (Mobile router device). And this is from Three network (in case you don't know, this network is available in the UK).

This is definitely a life saver for me as I can happily access the internet while I'm on the go (on the train, bus, taxi, public toilet -__-). Oh, and a max of 5 devices can be connected to this little baby. Although I'm quite disappointed with the battery life (just lasted for a freaking 3 hours only), but as a temporary solution to my internet cravings gets a thumbs up from me. I seriously suggest that you get a backup battery when you purchase this.

A 6/10 star from me.

Whenever there's something nagging in my mind, I tend to try and write my thoughts down to take the burden off and stop the constant mind boggling effect that's controlling my emotions as well (well, angry thoughts will definitely cultivate angry feelings). Therefore, having a book and a pen in hand does help to lift my mood, and.... improve my writing skills ^_^

I think that its really important that we are able to express our thoughts as much as possible. Be it verbally or written in black and white, the action of pouring our heart and soul can help elevate stress and increase serotonin (findings from Cindy Khor wtf).

1. Divide your wardrobe into 3 sections - Definitely In, Definitely Out and I-Don't-Know

2. Store the I-Don't-Know in a case or a box and see how often you go back to them. Chances are you never will, so after a few months, give them away or throw them out.

3. Remove clothes that are :

- "Fat" or "Thin" clothes if you fluctuate in weight

- Anything not worn over the pass year

- Clothing that needs repair or in unwearable for any reason

- Out-of-season clothes

- Outdated clothes

4. Never hang one garment over the top of another as it causes creasing and makes clothes hard to find.

5. Hang similar items together in a long and short format: coats (long), dresses (long), pants (long), blouses (short), jackets (short) etc.

6. Seperate suits. Put the jacket with your other jacket and the skirts with your other skirts.

7. Tips to maintain your shoes:

- Store on a shoe rack, in labeled boxes, or in hanging pockets

- When buying shoes, buy the correct cleaning agent at the same time

- Always clean new shoews and bags with neutral polish before wearing or using them, as they are not often properly waterproofed.

I always have a prob with my wardrobe. Everytime I open the cupboard, I found myself pondering for more than 5 minutes, imagining what I should wear for what occasion and came to the conclusion that I have nothing to wear. Throwing myself constantly into such a pathetic situation that I decided to get help from Library.

1. List the activities over the space of a month or two and work out a rough % of time per activity: using the cost-per-wear formula.

How to Eliminate Boredom, The Cindy's Way

1. Watch Anime/Movies/Dramas

2. Play coin dozer on Eeepad

3. Read a library book (any topics, but my favourite would be self help books)

4. Listen to some soothing music and lay in bed

5. Tilt your head and look up at the sky, savour the fluffy white clouds, the blue sky and the warm sunshine

6. Do some room cleaning up / tidying up, it somehow felt theurapatic after to accomplish your task

7. Sleep (my much preferred method to kill boredom)

8. Call your family/friends, this can help elevate the lonely feeling

9. Online shopping. And you get to control the amount of money you spend as impulse buying is quite difficult to acheive here

10. Paint your nails

11. Draw. Whether you are using digital or ancient-paper drawing, just let your imaginations run wild.

12. Exercise. This is the hardest and the most difficult part as I tend to get lazy very often

13. Cook my favourite food. Be it dessert or main dish or appetizer, just get going with the pots and pans

14. Blogging would be one of my favourite pass time of all time. I know, some of you don't blog, but I really suggest you to get started as blogging helps in being an outlet to all your emotions and at the same time helps in your writing skills (well, everyone needs writing skills, don't they wtf)

15. Sort out your wardrobe. Donate/throw whatever that doesn't fit and segregate the ones that you keep into sections of: work, leisure, colours.... etc.....

16. Play games, Angry Birds, Sudoku, Uno, Monopoly... Endless posibilities....

Its my first time using a nail polish with cracked effect (although I'd bought this almost for half a year but due to laziness I had been putting it off for a moment now). And I immediately love the effect this nail polish gives. Application was a bit dodge though (well, maybe its me not used to the polish's viscosity) therefore a word of advice here: Do not apply too thick a coat of the Nail Effect polish or the effect wouldn't be great.

Anyhows, I know its gonna be too extravagant and too expensive and not-too-worthy to actually spend $400++ on a hotel room for one night. But a gal can always dream, right?

Initially I wanted to book a room for my dad's birthday but thought that the money could actually put to better use. Now, I'm lusting to stay just one night, just one night please, and experience being in the upper class of the society wtf -_-

How I Started My New Year

Hey everyone, its me again (of course its me, who else?) Happy 2012 year. I'd been wondering what to write for my 1st blog post and had decided on writing about the boring stuff that I went did today.

I didn't went celebrating into the wee hours till morning. In fact, I didn't even go through the countdown part and just doze off (been suspecting that I'm growing old now and doesn't acquire the energy to party till dawn) before 11.30pm.

So, today, I literally was lazing around my room, watching anime, writing up some New Year Resolutions, playing Coin Dozer on my Eeepad, day dreaming that I'll get rich someday, and exploring Youtube for some interesting videos.

Before I end this post abruptly, I wish to share with you something. Something really meaningful. Somthing that can change your perception of life entirely. Something that may touch your heart and makes you wanna live better eventually. Something that can help you through during tough times.

Taipei 101 & Ding Tai Feng

Don't you just hate it when you are out and about but the weather just sucks by covering up the sun and you can't even get a decent shot of anything?? So, there you go, standing in full glory under the dark clouds, Taipei 101.

If you need more info on this magnificent skyscraper (height, location, its tenants, architecture etc...) then go ahead to wiki / google / youtube it, I'm sure there's sufficient info instead of getting them from me ^_^

But I can tell you, the elevator ride up is totally exhilarating. The elevators go from the 5 -> 89 floor in 37 seconds, reaching a speed of 1010 meters per minute which is totally unbelievable. Why aren't there technology like these in Malaysia??

Went to Ding Tai Feng to have a snack (well, not exactly snack but more of dinner). Wasn't that hungry hence only 2 dishes of food.

And I must say, although I'm a lady, I still find that the services of those waitresses at Ding Tai Feng is absolutely excellent. They greet/welcome/speak with a soft & gently voice that's strong enough to melt any icy hearts. Bowing curteously at 30deg to you when you pass by them, the rush of being treated like that is un-substitude-able (is there even this word?) in anywhere else in the world (well, maybe except for Japan)

Oh, by the way, that's Hua Diao Chicken (Chicken in Chinese Wine) which tasted a bit bitter (but accomodates well with in my mouth if added to some soy sauce) but excellent meat texture is worth trying. If I'm not mistaken, its listed a starter dish as it was served cold.

The ever famous Ding Tai Feng Xiao Long Pao (Some chinese dumpling with broth in it). To be honest, I'm not quite a fan of xiao long bao but this passed the satisfactory line. Skin although fairly thin, but strong enough to hold its contents. The broth in these little thingy tasted nice too. Thumbs up from me.

So, that pretty much sums up my trip to Taipei. Took me about 10++ posts to get them pictures all up.... Phew, what a job... In conclusion, this trip is pretty much up-to-my-standard-of-backpack-touring (if not for me down with serious flu, I woulda enjoyed myself more) and its just an eating trip all the way...

Will definitely go back to Taiwan for me but this time round, Imma visit the central and the southern continent.

Waterfall Does Help in Calming Me Down

Had been feeling a bit restless & distress lately due to various factors in my life (job, family, love, friends, just random stuff) that sometimes I wish how nice it would be if I could take a break from these pandemonium. Its been quite hectic in my life to say the least that I sort of lost track of what is my purpose in this world wtf..

When everything seems to become overwhelming, I sometimes tried to meditate but succumb to looking at my laptop instead which is of course a big time FAIL!!

Heard from someone (or somewhere) that humans tend to be drawn towards liquidy stuff (ocean, river, ponds, fountains) hence this post.

Wu Lai's Hot Spring... My Love!!!

There are many hot springs in Wu Lai area (Taipei) therefore you might wanna be careful when you choose your destination as some of them looked quited dodgy to me (you know, peeling paints on the front, tile flooring, unkempt reception area..). Hence, I highly recommend this hotel that comes with hot spring services to you, Yolanda...

As you can see, the tub's really spacious. I booked a whole room to myself, you see.. And the water does not carry too strong a sulfate smell, just nice for me. Furthermore, I was extremely ill at that time and the water totally soothes me, and I became healthy once more wtf.

Super nice hair and body products that they provide. I mean, all of them are all nice smelling and they totally feel nice on the skin.

Forest on the opposite river bank. Don't worry, outsiders aren't able to peak inside (not sure why, but they said so).

Totally classy and relaxing..

Highly recommended... Thumbs up from me. Its NT1800 per room if I'm not mistaken.

A gal always needs to look at her optimum, therefore splashing considerable amount of money on some quality skincare products is a must. Biotherm Moisturisers, Lotion, Cleanser, Serum and Avene Sunblock

Some Food in Shilin Night Market 士林夜市

生煎包 Pan Fried Dumplings. This is really good even though when it is cold. I can imagine it being all juicy and succulent when it's warm.

Then, feeling quite daring, here's a pot of "smelly tofu" (臭豆腐) mini steamboat.

Some duck's blood to go with it. To be honest, I'm not a fan of smelly tofu but this one is really really good. Its not your normal kind of fried smelly tofu, it actually doesn't smell, and the texture is smooth and somewhat chewy.

And I just absolute adore the broth. Spicy and herby, can I say "heaven"!!!! Kept on indulging myself by slurping up most of the soup. Just plain OMG!!!

This is the infamous Shilin XL fried chicken chop being cut into pieces. It isn't that good. I think I chose the wrong the shop to buy the chicken. I mean, its not even thin for a start, and there's like bones in there!!! Friggin B.O.N.E.S. Maybe this is the authentic version of how Shilin chicken chop should be but I ain't liking it as I'm more used to the flatter boneless version that Malaysia's got to offered. Pure disappointment.

With a thick layer of butter in the middle. Crispy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside, and sweet & salty bursting in my mouth.

This is .... deng deng deng deng (chinese will know what this music is)..... Fried Milk.

O_o right?? I'm totally like that too...

But trust me, this is like the best thing that could ever happen to me. Super OMG with capital letters. Its like ... ummm.... fried fish ball but softer inside. You know how much I love sweet stuff, right? This isn't that sweet but I still love it. Yes, its kinda crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside (what'sup with the describing how it is inside and outside). Uber delicious.

Ancient Palace of Taipei 故宫

I think I'll just let the pictures do the talking. Massive historic structure are my absolute favourite. Yeah, and there were so many tourists that almost every pictures I took was filled with them. Pretty damn annoying.

KFC Goodness

Alright, I'm not even going to describe how this taste like cuz there's KFC every f**king places so just head out and buy. But in Singapore, there's this Ultimate Filler Meal that consists of piece of crispy chicken (I always ask for thigh meat), zinger burger, mashed potato and a drink. Costs about S$7.15 (if your drink is lemon tea). See!!?? I can even remember the price as I buy it ever so often.

Despite me always getting a tummy upset after eating this (I think its due to the fact that the chicken is kinda oily), I still treat it as my comfort food as I absolutely love KFC.

KFC, that's where I wanna be ^_^

Teddy Bear Restaurant Taipei 小熊的木屋餐厅

Alright, so there's nothing teddy bear-ish about this place but the food here is absolutely heaven. Pretty hungry as I can be, here are some food that I ordered.

Its a scrumptious meal . Dessert, appetizers, main course, side dishes, soup, tea...

Nuggets are tasty as ever. And I do mean exceptionally good since its from Taiwan.

A mediocre cake really, but the rich creamy smooth chocolate topping saved the day. Yes, me and my chocolate, nothing can do us apart. And why am I showing you the dessert 1st?

Some accompanying dishes which tasted amazing. They weren't skimping on the ingredients and flavours. This is by far an absolute favourite of the whole meal. The braised tofu with peanuts was excellent (smooth and chewy), the leafy green bak choi (is it?) was superbly crunchy and fresh, and the cabbage was just heartily wholesome.

Before you start getting sick of my praises and all, you gotta listen to me on this dish. I think its fried chicken in some thai chilly sauce. But its totally nothing like the normal thai chilly sauce. Its more in depth than just spicy and sour and sweet, it had this amazing taste of... I don't know, its so hard to describe. Just a mouthful of delightfulness I'd say. Not to mention the crispy chicken coated in some kinda flavoured batter. Just marvelous.

Here's what it looks like from the outside. I will definitely come back again (if I can still remember where, I think its near Shilin Night Market). The price was alright (sh*t, forgotten again), not too expensive.

Its a 9.5*/10* rating. And I seldom give such high rating to food except for mum & dad's cooking.

I Can Feel Christmas Everywhere

I certainly do wish that it started snowing already. I mean, snow always makes everything seemed perfect and peaceful and calm and just makes you all drowsy and wistful. Alright, I'm not making much sense anymore, am I?

I think there's like magic in those white fluffy stuff. People tends to feel super happy when they see snow (I'm not saying blizzard kinda snow) and snow always is associated with the holidays and Christmas. And yes, I normally get my way out of snow as I dislike them melting on me which makes me all wet. How ironic is that?

So, the main point of this post is to make you feel happy and dizzy.

中正纪念堂 Zhong Zheng Ji Nian Tang Taipei

One of the must see places in Taipei. Underneath this massive construction lays the musuem of someone famous call Jiang Jie Shi 蔣介石。

And of course, when you have a gigantous (gigantic + humongous) structures, you certainly have awesome views accompanying it.

See what did I told you? And yes, the Ji Nian Tang faces the National Theatre. How convenient is that? But still, we have to walk a distance in order to reach here. And doesn't the garden look absolutely fantastic?

Oh, and some real life guard standing there. Not blinking, or swaying, or moving an inch at all. Impressive. And I can't stop staring at his handsome face >.< And the black coat guy standing behind is some security personnel for the place. And he gets the privilege of scratching his cheeks. How unfair!!

The ever famous ~~Sun Yat San~~ Jiang Jie Shi (**oh crap, got my facts all wrong) , father of ~~communist for~~ China (I think). Look, doesn't this rings a bell to you (looks familiar)?? Isn't it similar to some monument in America (what's it call again!?)

OK, that's me being all sick and uncomfortable but still manages a smile. God, I just hate the weather in Taipei.

Go and take a look. I'm sure you won't regret it.

Isn't this the most cozy thing you ever seen in your life?? Alright, just only my life -__-''' I just wanted to pamper myself with gifts and make me feel loved. I have to 1st love myself before I can love anyone else, therefore I'd decided to buy myself some presents and wrapped them up in cute little christmas wrappers and place them underneath (well, more like beside) the tree.

^_^ well, you just gotta enjoy those little things in life. But those presents definitely worth a bomb (as in burning a hole in my pocket).

At 1st when I step foot to this place, I thought I'd stepped into a time machine to ancient palace days. Its absolutely magnificent and gorgeous. Not your typical "Huan Zhu Ge Ge" (Huan Zhu Princess) type of place, but close enough.

Its the National Theatre of Taipei.

After 2 and a half hours, all my 7 photos are uploaded to this site. Phew... tough work here. And totally pisses me off too. But oh well, I'm really determine to do some updating today, so enjoy.

This is like the 1st time ever that I saw so many devotees, praying, chanting, mumbling with a book on the left hand and some beads on the right. Chinese as young as 15++ to 70++ years old had the same solumn expression on their faces, all sincerely praying. Was really touched by the scene. Made me thought about all stuff in life.

What is my purpose here? In this ever changing world...

胡须张鲁肉饭 Hu Xu Zhang Lu Rou Fan

This tasted amazing!!! I mean the rice. And the stew pork. Although I was really sick at that time, and my taste buds practically were all dead, but I can still savour how good this was. Its a bit sweet, but the stew added the saltiness which balances the sweetness, absolute perfect.

The mee sua look-a-like thing was ok. Its gooey all the way. With a hint of sweetness. The springy noodles certainly does give a slight surprise to this plain ordinary looking dish. And the sotong (cuttle fish) is definitely the highlight of this dish. Loves

The only down side of them dishes is that they cost NT30 (approx RM3) for the rice and NT50++!? for the noodles. And the portion is small. 1 bowl can't even satisfied my hunger.

Night Market 华西街夜市 in Taipei (Part 2)

Some Butatori (BBQ Pork Skewers) thingy. This, is absolutely delicious except for that wee green thing sticking out between the delicious meat. It tasted sweet, slightly spicy (due to the black pepper), juicy and at the same time savoury. I don't know how they did it, but its absolutely divine. My favourite of the night.

Blur looking Oh Ah Chien (Oyster Egg Pancake). This was really different from what we get in Malaysia and Singapore. They pour over this brownish sweet sauce over the pancake. Although I think that its really un-neccessary to do so as the pancake itself tasted alright on its on. It could be a bit more saltier if I must say. Don't really fancy oyster so I won't give a bias review on this.

And one more thing, what's up with Taiwanese people and sweet stuff. Almost all their food tasted sweet (~~kinda reminds me of Singapore's food~~)

This is.... some fish cake thingy coated with wasabi and chilli sauce. Its a weird combination but trust, it tastes just as good as it looks. Maybe I should try this at home. Their fish cake comes in soft, quite unline the ones that we had in Malaysia (firm and chewy). I think it would be very much suitable for old people without teeth.

Night Market 华西街夜市 in Taipei (Part 1)

Really don't know what's wrong with blogger, but I can't seem to upload the last 3 photos of the eats that I had in Taipei. Super pissed off. So I'd decided to seperate the post into 2 parts.

Ok, so this night market is near my hotel. Of course I have to take advantage of it and walk approximately 10 minutes to the heaven of food.

This stall met us gracefully (!?) on the entrance and I was immediately intrigued by it. What the?? I thought it was selling some pig intestines but when I got near the stall to have a closer look..

Ooo... Saussages. The white one was glutinous rice stuffed in pig intestine membrane. So I decided to order the 大肠包小肠 (literally translated to big intestine wrap small intestine). Which is the pork sausage wrapped inside the so-called rice sausage.

I think the lady at the stall did stuff other things such as garlic and .... can't remember... But I remembered telling her to forgo the cilantro as I absolutely hate hate those green herbs.

The taste?.... Not bad. It was quite good actually. I mean, the juicy sweet pork sausage certainly does compliment the rice sausage well as the rice sausage was kinda tasteless. The touch of garlic certainly does help to bring this sinful delicacy to a whole new level. I mean, it certainly did helped eliminate the oily-ness of the sausage. Thumbs up from me.

Alright, I have absolutely no idea what's this called. I think its hot gui ling gao (龟零糕 herbal dessert) mixed with other stuff like nata de coco, green bean, peanuts...etc.... Can't remember everything but I do remember me picking and choosing the condiments that I wanted to add into my herbal dessert.

And the funny thing is that we normally have gui ling gao in solid form (kinda like jello), but since this is hot, I guess its unable to stay in its usual form so it kinda melted and become this liquid sorta weird drink.

But still, the bitter sweet herbal drink together with the other condiments does make a glorious symphony. I mean, they really go well with each other and there's certainly no clashing of ingredients. Another thumbs up from me.

Alright, maybe I'm a bit bias in my review as I was pretty hungry at that time and I was really curious with all the food there (never seen them in my entire life). Well, at least the pictures came out quite nice (used a really outdated Canon camera to snap those pics).

ShinTokyo, Half Price Sushi Buffet

Don't read this when you are hungry. Although the quality of the photos are not as great as using the DSLR, but close-up shots always make me hungry :P

So, there was like a deal thing going on on a website (can't remember which website was it, think its deals.com.sg!?). Half price sushi buffet, with drinks and Ramen and stuff, why not??

A few clicks and into the shop we go!!!

The variety of food that ShinTokyo offer is quite extensive. I mean, usually when you buy half priced buffet deals, you get like half the quantity and the quality. But ShinTokyo offers Salmon, squid, idako (octopus), Chuka Hotate (Scallop Skirt) and those common seafood stuff for their buffet selection.

The food wasn't really your kind of exquisite 5* tasting sushi, but its pretty decent in terms of taste and service and environment. I mean, what do you expect?

I would rate this 8/10 star rating. Most of the stars given was due to the price which didn't leave my bank account too poor. If the website does offer this deal again, I might re-purchase this.

Ji De Chi 记得吃

This was 1st introduced by a colleague who kept singing praises about this shop. So off we went to the top floor (or is it!?) of Jurong Point Singapore shopping mall to savour the desserts (after we had Wendy's fast food).

Quite a queer name for a dessert shop. But nontheless, meaningful. Its "Remember To Eat" translated in Chinese.

Green Tea Ice Shavings topped with Nata de Coco and Azuki Beans (trying to act high class here by naming the red beans with some fancy names).

Originally the platter comes with some dango (mochi textured item) but I opted them out as I really hate dango (be it sweet or salty, don't ask me why, am never a fan of Tang Yuan either).

The green tea shavings are really good to be honest. Fluffy, bitter sweet and cold ice shavings really does help in the cooling department. Accompanied with the beans, they are heaven match-made as the sweet beans compliments the slight bitter green tea flavoured ice really well. Oh, not forgetting the Nata de Coco which I love love love the best.

But due to its huge portion, I was quite reluctant to slurp the whole thing till the end. But with a bit of chit chat certainly does helped me in finishing the whole bowl.

A 8/10 star rating. S$5 per bowl.

This was my friend's "Yang Zhi Gan Lu" (I think its mango something something desert thingy). I manage to take a bite and was quite awed with the thick and intense flavour of the mango. One of the best that I'd tried. You can definitely see chunks of the fruit in the bowl. A pity it comes in such a small portion. And what's more, its the same price as the ice shaving, S$5

No ratings for this as I didn't finish it up.

Garden Hotel, Taipei; 4* Experience

In order to pamper myself, its best that I get the best in town, a multiple star for sleeping cozily on a huge gigantic bed. Lush curtains and luxurious lamp lights totally can make me float into wonder land.

And I chose Garden Hotel, which is situated in the city of Taipei. Not that I'm picky about the hotel's location, but staying in the heart of the city certainly does make difference to my schedule, especially when I was seriously ill during my short stay. Totally dreadful where I have to drag my aching body and heavy head out from the bed and tour Taipei. Huge TORTURE!!!

See what I mean!? When you are f**king tired, you just wanna come home to this... And the bonus point is that every single day, your bed is always made, toilet always cleaned and room tidied. Like you're the KING!!

This machine thingy is fun (I think I had shown this thing in previous post when I was in Japan but I didn't get to use it at that time as it was a public toilet). Especially the washing part where when you press the button, it totally clean your a** hole for you by spraying warm water. Cool huh...

And don't you just hate cold toilet bowl seats!? No problemo, just adjust the seat temperature setting and you are ready to sit >.<

And, this is really neat too. The brush for cleaning your shoe is totally fluffy that you can totally put your feet on top. But beware, you don't know what people's shoes are full of!!

Spacious and welcoming lobby. Nice... Not bad...

So all in all, my only complain about this hotel is that the lamps in the room, their switches are not available at the bed side. If you wanna turn off individual lamps, you have to get out of bed and switch them off one by one, which is a huge hassle for me (hey, I'm used to central remote control).

But other than that, plus the services.., this hotel deserve a 9/10 rating.

The facilities are kinda old, the exterior looks really dirty and frayed, and the buses stinks.

My Favourites Pass Timers

Pedi and mani-cure are like the best relaxing activities/enjoyment that a gal can savour. Its like being queen for an hour when the manicurist (is that a word?) hussle around you and beautifying those nails/toe nails of yours. Most of the time, the treatment comes with a scrub and moisturising session.

I really highly recommend you guys to go to Malaysia for manicures. Its cheap, and the personnels are as professional as they can be. And the ambience is great too (I know, some of you guys are thinking that the salon in Malaysia are probably dodgy).

Having a couple o'drinks with friends is like the biggest entertainment that eats up half of my free time. And a few good laughs always make my day ^_^

The Disgusting Seafood Meal - DELIMA, Batam

No, I'm not even going to describe how they taste. Just one word though... Awful

And for your info, the name of the restaurant (do you even call it a restaurant when it doesn't even provide air-conditioning and at the very least a fan!? Imagine sweating while eating.) is DELIMA. At waterfront, Batam.

Beware, holiday-ers, you might want to skip this place. And don't trust the blogger that praise this place. The food is way off in taste (nothing was edible - is that too harsh?), the service sucks and the environment is just rubbish (with tons of mozzies flying and having their meal together with you - sucking your blood if you know what I mean).

Although we did kinda polish the dishes clean (hey, cummon, we have 9 people and the food portion ain't that big), I am still going to rate it D-. Maybe an E would suffice.

Eating Chinese In Indonesia!? Sick...

I know, we are probably mental, to have Chinese while we're in Batam. I mean, hello, we have tons of Chinese in Singapore and Malaysia, and why the F do we need to have another go in Indonesia?

Alright, ironically, this is the best food that we had ever eaten ever since we land foot on Batam. I mean, honestly, I think the local food sucks (except for the Mamak style fried noodles that my friend da pao back). We weren't really happy with the food at Batam. In fact, we were pissed off.

I think its mostly due to the hot and humid environment and the restaurant itself doesn't even provide us with fan or air-conditioning. Speaking of dropping to hell, this trip is almost equivalent to that.

Oh well, I guess we would always remain as Malaysians (fan everywhere)

Harris Batam Hotel

So, I've decided to post up some photos from Batam, but there are going to be in episodes and not at one go. And I'd also decided to take out pictures with me in it (alright, maybe leaving one or two to show you). Yeah, speaking of no self-confidence.

The hotel's great. A pity I didn't take any photos of the room as I was rushing about the whole day to cram as much activity as I could into 1 day and making a huge mess in my room. But the exterior is good. Apparently it was rated as a 5* hotel. I didn't even know that. But judging from the amount of entertainment it offers for guests, I guess it deserves it.

One last shot of the exterior. And yes, it is close to the sea. However, heard from a friend that the beach was really dirty and they sort of close the beach due to strong waves. -__-. My friend was pretty disappointed though.

Next post would be more on Batam's food. Nothing fancy.

A Typical Deepavali Breakfast!?

Breakfast: Cereal bar, apple and Earl Grey. Absolutely luxurious to me. Seemed nutricious too (well, except that there's no protein).

Its been a crazy week. Got back from a musical play, an island trip and now slogging away at work till I felt so exhausted.

I'm still debating with myself whether to show you some pictures from my trip. Mmmmm.... I mean, I look hideous in the photos thus I'm a bit hesitant. Should I? Should I?

Alright, call me childish, whatever, but I absolutely love love love this anime so so much.

Its about this youth being able to see shadows (seems like ghost to me) and sets out on the journey to become a King!? Wait, I'm not sure whether I'd got this right, but yeah, I think the story is somewhat around that line.

And yes, please take note of the sexualitism (I'm not talking about porn, hello!?) where they portray gay and lesbian as often as they could here. By the way, in case you still haven't notice, the one with the white/grey hair is a guy. And yes, he's the one that loves the hero (the one with brown hair).

So, like most animes, you get the morals behind the story are some old stuff like friendship and comradeship and bravery and loneliness, you know, that kinda shit. But all in all, due to those handsomely drawn characters, I'm hooked.

Today, I'd got like this severe food poisoning accompanied with the symptoms of vomitting, diarhhea, tummy pain and light-headedness. It was awful to work in this condition. But due to my determination, I had preserved through my work today. Can someone applaud me??

Totally can't believe its that time of the year again.

So, I've been longing for this shower gel to appear on the Lush website for ages. And I literally do mean ages, as my bottle of Snow Fairy from last year hits the bottom which left me heart broken for weeks. I don't know why does this particularbody product leaves me with such great impact, but what I do know is that THIS, is da bomb!!

A RM800,000 Semi D?

So, I've been a bit of a house hunting with the family. I think its that time of the age to own a property, my property, so I was quite excited to explore what sort of houses and what prices range they are in. Well, don't even think about suggesting me to buy a house in Singapore cuz that's just so totally impossible.

So, initially, my budget range is RM500k. Well, of course, there are lower price range corner house and Semi-Ds as their location ain't that ideal and they can't have a higher resell value due to their market. But the arrogant me wanted something big. And with superb location. And not forgetting the increase in the house's value in a few years time.

So off we went to search for a better location structure and we did ended up in one of the most hype and extravagant conveniently located district. And boy oh boy was I so taken in with the model house that they had for viewing. Its just so majestic that once I set foot in its living room I decided that this would be my dream house.

And guessing what, after enquiring about the price, I was kinda deflated. I mean, RM800,000. Cummon!! If I'm paying just 10% of its downpayment, I have to pay RM4000 every month till 25 years only I can be debt free. That's just insane. :(

So, in order not to have install noodles or bread everyday, I decided that I'll let this baby go **tear**

To be honest, this is the best ever comedy that I'd watched in my whole entire life. I have been laughing for pure 20 seconds (continously that I thought that I'm gonna die due to out of breath) and you can practically see the whole cinema erupted with laughter and choking (or rather, coughing in my case).

Yes, its totally worth the 10 bucks that I'd payed. And mind you, I don't usually go to the movies (hey, what's the internet for?) unless its something that I know its worth while watching.

Yes yes... Go catch the movie. I'm super positive that you won't regret it either

"An Indulgence a Day", My Current Favourite Book

So, today has been a really sick day. Not as in I'm down with a flu or something. Its more like work sucks. And everything sucks. Especially the gigantic dying cockroach dying in my room sucks. Not to mention the Insecticide that's filling my room and irritating my nostrils.

Oh wait, this is suppose to be a happy post. Not some weepy lament post that shows how pathetic my life is.

So, I'd been going to the library to get some books out. And one of the book is as titled above. This number is absolutely amazing. It totally gave me an insight on how I could be pamper myself and make myself happy with all the itsy bitsy thing that I could do.

The only downside is that most of the ideas given requires a certain amount of money spending. It seems that you need to be rich in order to enjoy. **Wince** So anyway, the book is great and I'm having such a good time going through it. Go ahead and look for this book. I think it would somehow change your perspective about life.

I'm definitely sleeping with the icky disgusting creepy crawly tonight. And mind you, its fucking HUGE!!! Before it went into the creak of my cupboard to die, I'd manage to drench it with pesticide. Tons of pesticide.

And I can't believe that I'm shaking like crazy. I didn't used to be so scared of these pest last time. I think its due to that I'd been staying in UK and Japan where killing roaches are not part of my daily routine and its crazy that I'd actually develope a phobia on the C pest.

And I absolutely love love love her. And her song. I wasn't that keen at 1st cuz her voice is a bit too high pitch for my liking. However, upon listening to a couple of her song and she had me totally hooked. And boy does she makes an awesome breathtaking concert. Hey, she's not a real girl. The company uses holographic to project her on a huge screen and the effect is phenomenal.

Alright, as some of you guys may have notice in my previous post that Cindy Khor is getting fatter than she should normally be. Hey, look at that obviously bloated up face and all the clothes that cover up her huge bum, I ain't proud, to be honest.

So, after much tough decision, I had decided .. to loose weight.

Yup, you might have heard me saying this over a billion times, but this time round, I think that its really time to get back into shape (I mean, I'm just so so gutted when people started commenting "Cindy, I think you look pretty, but loosing some of those kilograms might enhance your looks better" or when I started rambling that I need to lose some fat, nobody argues with me and say that I don't need to -__-''')

And out this baby come with me. I sincerely need a scale. A digital one. Analog ones (is it analogue? or analog? which one?) are a nightmare when you need to calibrate it every so often. So, I bought a black one, having in mind that it might match my future black-and-white theme house -__-

And of course, I'm kinda excited to embark on this wonderful journey of looking better. So wish me luck you guys, I totally need all of it. 4) Last but now least, the indestructable, majestic, solitude-ary (is this even a word?) landmark, the Arc de Triomphe. Well, at least it attracts 1.4 million visitors each year (according to gofrance.about.com)

Last of the Last Food Post

Like finally............................................................................................

Everyone (including myself) is straining for this day to come as this would be the final foodie post of my trip to Europe. Even I am itching to work on other topics (although I haven't got much to show you guys).

So, here's what we had in London. You'd guessed it, Chinese again. I'm telling you, the boy just love his nation food (well, not exactly nation, but more of his roots)

So we got lost on our way, trying to seach for China town and ended up in I-don't-even-know-where so we just pop by a decent looking Chinese restaurant to satiate our hunger with some delicious looking duck hanging at the display window.

The infamous Yang Chow Fried Rice. This was good. I remember it being fragrant right up till the eggs and the rice were well seperated. I just hate fried rice that has big chunks of clumps and not being salty enough. This, is certainly up to my standard.

The Fried Flat Noodles are just so-so. They tasted kinda bland and boy are they oily. And I don't see the need to the sprinkle of sesame seed as it did not enhance the taste nor the visual of the plate of noodles. Its a B- for me.

And this, is really up to par with what we had last time in China town. Succulent duck skin drench with sweet sauce with its juicy and tender meat is certainly a huge hit between us. A complete thumbs up for. At least, we finally get to have a good enjoyable meal at last.

And this the breakfast that the hotel provided us with. Not to mention that we have to lug my huge luggage up 5 flights of stairs which almost killed the boyfriend. Even walking upstairs without any baggage is one tough job.

Lesson learned: Never, stay in a 1* hotel with many levels. You may end up staying at the highest level and have to walk your ass up those stairs.

Miscellaneous Eats in Paris

Alright, this would be the 2nd last post on food because my stack of food pictures is coming to an end. However, I will be writing more food post for the next few months as I just love how my blog is totally laden with delicious looking wonderness.

You know, I'm starting to think that Paris is a boring place for food. I mean, if you wanna find decent French food, its gonna be either really expensive, or its hidden in some secluded outskirt location.

**yeah yeah, I know, excuses for the crappy food that we eaten throughout our trip**

So, we didn't really bother searching for authentic French cuisine so we just snack on whatever we can get our hands on.

Don't you just reminisce the good ol' days of coke contained in glass bottle? So yeah, isn't that exciting to show you guys a coke in a bottle... Bleh.... Come on Cindy, you can do better than that!!!

Can you believe that we actually had Italian when we were in France?? Thinking back, I kinda regretted to not have French while I'm in France. How ironic is that!? So, this is some kinda mushroom carbonara linguine with grilled chicken. This is great. I mean, having had lousy unsatisfying meals for the last couple of days totally took a toll on my body and this dish, came as a light of hope for me **exaggerating mode ON**

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Very very much.

Didn't think much about the pizza though. I really can't remember the name for this. But as you can see, its chicken with some peppers, onions, mushroom and some sorta cheese. I don't know, I have the tendency to dislike pizza I suppose. Whenever I see the doughy looking creature with some unknown toppings on top, I tend to go "Urrgghh.."

An upside down bread cake. I think the fruit that they use is peach. I only get to taste a little of this and it was bland as usual. Although the bread cake (the texture is a cross between those 2) is moist and fluffy, I think that it needs to be sweeter though.

And the really odd looking sausage baguette with chips. I love this. I love how chewy the sausage is. Don't know what's the type of the sausage though and the baguette is super tough to bite. Why oh why does the French have to make their bread as hard as rock?? And the chips? Lets not talk about it.

My Dream Is To Have Macarons In Paris

Its always been my dream to have the most authentic taste of macarons in Paris, seeing that Paris is the birth place (or is it?? don't quote me) of Macarons. So, we were on the search for some delivious Macarons and....

We can't find a single damn bakery shop that sells those sweethearts on Champs Elysees (a shopping district in Paris). Damn!!!

And in the end, do you know where we found it???

Yup, its Mac D =.=

How on earth can Mac D sell these kinda high class delicacies? Oh well, judging that we are in Paris, anything is possible...

After a bite of these babies,

Can't really remember all the flavours in the box except for starberry, lime, chocolate and mocha. Pardon the uneven mushy bite of the Macaron.

If you want me to tell you the difference between Macarons in Asia and Macarons in Paris, honestly, I don't know >.< They all taste sweet and crunchy on the ouside, soft in the inside.

I enjoyed them tremendously and I know the boy do too. If I'm not mistaken, its 6 Euro per box of 6 macarons. Well worth the price, I'd say. I mean, hey, at least I'm EATING macarons in PARIS!!

When You Think About Paris, You Usually Think About...

Exquisite delicacies, exotic food, nice ambience, great services and romantic stories....

Well, not in this case if you are in the REAL PARIS.

At least the food is so much better than Amsterdam. I mean, come on, if you had been reading my previous post, you'd know how much I despise whatever we ate in Amsterdam.

Anyway, so we just simply walk into one restaurant (rather than walked in, I would say we just sat down as they had tables and chairs at the pavement) which I can't remember the name (its not memorable anyways) and ordered whatever we see fit.

Starter: Some smoked fish drench in healthy oil (olive!?) and a side salad. I kinda like this. The fish didn't had those unbearable fishy taste and its surprisingly really refreshing. It has tiny bits of bones which of course is edible and if you munch on the veg and fish together, they fit perfectly well like a zigzaw puzzle. Not bad, not bad..

Starter: Tuna Salad. Just some plain old tuna with mayo and salad. Notice how similar (or should I rather say, The Same) the choices of veg that they put into the salad are?? Anyway, you can't really go wrong with mayo tuna, can you? So its a thumbs up from me. The boy lap the plate clean.

Complimentary bread. This is like ~~the worst~~ ~~suicidal~~ the toughest baguette I had ever placed in my mouth. How can serve this in France??

Mains: Spaghetti Bolognaise. Now now, don't judge a book by it cover. As icky as it looks, its quite good actually. I mean, I always expect Western people to de-saltify they food and this would certainly taste bland. But much to my surprise, it was packed with flavours. I love how non-acidic this turned out and how the spaghetti was cooked al-dente. The only complain is that I wish it has more pieces of meat to chew on.

Main: Fish with rice and beans. As I had mentioned in my previous post, the boyfriend just loves to be Chinese and he just have to order rice/noodles everywhere he goes. I can't really remember how the fish taste like (or did I eat it?? can't remember) but the boy was complaining that the beans are like bleh and the portion is just too small for him.

We did ordered dessert but we were in a hurry to visit some other places so we didn't even wanna take time out to snap some pictures. And bless the waiter, he was quite un-happy that we wanted to finish the meal fast because when we wanted the bill and dessert to come together, he rigidly refused and told us that we need to have our dessert 1ST before we can have the bill..

Pppffftttt... Annoying French guy..

We Love Going Chinese

You really can't blame us for having Chinese in Amsterdam as it is really really hard to find a decent restaurant to fill up our tummies. Besides, the boyfriend totally enjoys Chinese food, especially Wonton Noodle or any other noodles. So, into the shop we went. And, and, and, there is a Chinatown in Amsterdam, which is near the Red Light District (**google it** wink wink**), so of course we have to take the opportunity to stop by and have some noodles

The roast pork is average. As they were soaked in the soup, the skin isn't that crispy. And thank God that the pork doesn't stink (like most pork in other Europe countries). The Har Gao Dumpling is quite good actually. Full with prawn and veg filling which makes it really above average.

As for the Wonton, I think the taste's quite similar to the Har Gao Dumpling.

Didn't really enjoy the noodle and soup as they tasted bland, and the noodle's not springy enough to chew on. I would say, the overall dining experience is a B+. And we were quite famish at that time, you know..

Sometimes Having Western in Amsterdam Ain't That Good

This!!! May be the worst of all meals that we had in Amsterdam. The portions are freaking small, they taste blah, they look absolutely atrocious, the ambience is just rubbish, and I just hate the service.

Phew... that's quite a handful of complains..

I'll not say more, just let the pictures do the talking.

p/s: I don't even bother to describe how they taste as they are as yucky as they look.

Borscht soup with random baguettes

Itsy bitsy tiny beef steak with fries. Cooked medium well but with loads of bloody water oozing out.

Pizza In Amsterdam??

A Question: WHERE DOES PIZZA ORIGINATE FROM??

Because I absolutely haven't got a clue. But what the heck, I'll just wallop whatever I find on the streets of Amsterdam...

No, I really can't remember the name for these pizzas. The 1st pizza you see on top is definitely not what I would order (**hint: its the one that goes to Amsterdam with me**) because I am the kind that is super anti-peppers and anti-olives.

As the carnivore in me always tend to make its way to the surface, I satisfied it with a dose of meaty pizza. And yes, I am in love with the 2nd pizza. Well, they taste alright, and I still prefer Pizza Hut's pizza. Dunno... maybe I just hate Amsterdam's pizza bread version. Kinda tough and hard to chew on...
